Who We Serve
Pleasant Hill Elementary
Thanks to the generous support from Pleasant Hill Elementary staff and faculty, we’ve been able to base our operations in the South Austin school since 2013. We store the vast majority of our books and hold monthly volunteer events on campus. Pleasant Hill has been educating Austin youth for over 150 years, and persists in its mission to shepherd new generations into a lifetime of learning. For more details about Pleasant Hill, check out their AISD profile.
Ortega joined the TKR family in 2014, and has been a vital part of our mission. This East Austin school prides itself on being a tight-knit team of instructors, parents, and neighborhood leaders dedicated to broad educational support for its students. We were very glad to be welcomed with open arms into the school’s diverse and vibrant community. Learn more about Ortega’s rich instructional programs here.
People’s Community Clinic
People’s Community Clinic is our newest member, joining in early 2016. Though our operations are considerably smaller, the impact felt by the clinic patrons is no less significant. We drop off one box of books each month, and children are welcome to take books home as they wish. Texas Kids Read could not be more proud to be part of this Austin institution.
