Texas Kids Read is a registered 509(a)2 non-profit organization based in Austin, TX providing free books to students in Title I schools in the Austin Independent School District. We have been operating since 2011, and have distributed over 20,000 books to local children.

Our Mission is to support early childhood literacy in Central Texas. We work hand-in-hand with local schools to enhance the efforts of educators who are helping to build our next generation of leaders.

Our Team is comprised entirely of volunteers lead by founders Rosanne and David Crump. Drop us a line on our Contact page for general questions and volunteer opportunities.

Our Method is very simple. We recover or purchase children’s books from multiple sources and distribute them at three Elementary schools in Austin. Learn more about our services and details about our program on our Resources page.

Our Schools are essential to our organization and furthering our mission. Without the generous support and unrivaled enthusiasm of educators in Austin, we could not continue to serve our student population.

Our Partners include local businesses, other non-profits, and groups who gather to help us clean and sort our stock of books. These groups have demonstrated their investment in community and education by helping us maintain our operations through critical support. Consider giving them your business or check out their websites on our Partners page.
